With a funeral provision plan, you either pay monthly premiums into a funeral insurance policy or deposit the funeral costs as a one-off payment into a secure trust account. These so-called earmarked funds are, in principle, protected from access by third parties. This means you can be absolutely certain that the funds will be used exclusively for your funeral.

Even if you require long-term care, become unemployed or receive basic income support (Bürgergeld), this fund set aside for your own funeral is generally protected and will not be lost even in the event of insolvency.

The younger you are when you take out the policy, the lower the monthly premiums for funeral insurance will be. It is therefore worth making provisions today for the future.
